Last week, the Big Island’s top Pop Warner team took the national stage at the 66th Pop Warner National Championships in Orlando, Fla. The West Side Eagles placed second in the 10-under consolation championship against the Menlo Atherton Vikings (38-18 FS), capping off an incredible week that was made possible through fundraisers and generous donations throughout the West Hawaii community. The Eagles thank all who helped make their trip across the country possible. “It was a great experience to get to the top level of play at the Pop Warner National Super Bowl Championship,” grandparent Joe Belisario told West Hawaii Today. “Lessons and values you cannot achieve unless you’re in the middle of all that will filter over the years and become part of a foundation for these young men into adulthood.”.
